FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Dr. James Anderson, the chancellor of Fayetteville State University, says he will step down for personal reasons.

According to the school, a national search for the Chancellor’s position will occur after the interim appointment.

Dr. Anderson spent 11 years as the Chancellor of FSU.

During his year-long sabbatical, Dr. Anderson will continue to serve the military, the university, and city in different roles.

He will then be eligible to return to his faculty position in the department of psychology.
