Hurricane Dorian is prompting municipalities, organizations, districts, agencies, and groups to shut down operations across Florida. We'll use this page to post them as they come into Spectrum Bay News 9.

CITRUS COUNTY

Based on guidance from county emergency management, all Citrus County schools will be CLOSED Tuesday, September 3. This includes all extra-curricular activities that may be scheduled for Monday AND Tuesday.

Please remember, even if our area gets minimal effects from the storm, our school staff and facilities play a vital role in supporting our community. Our schools are being used as shelters and our employees coordinate and manage the shelters.

The Lecanto CBOC facility (North Florida/South Georgia Veteran Health System) has canceled all outpatient clinic appointments on Tuesday, September 3.

CITRUS COUNTY COURT: JURY DUTY NOTIFICATION: The trials scheduled for Jury Pool #391 scheduled for Tuesday, September 3, 2019, have been canceled. Do not report for Jury Duty at the Citrus County Courthouse on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. You are not required to report for Jury Duty until you receive a new Jury Summons in the mail.

Due to Hurricane Dorian’s expected impact on Central Florida, The Centers outpatient and community programming in Citrus and Marion Counties will be close at 3PM Tuesday, September 3.

HERNANDO COUNTY

Hernando County Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, September 3.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY

The University of South Florida System announced that all USF campuses and facilities will reopen on Wednesday, Sept. 4.  Regular class schedules and normal business operations, including USF Health clinics and facilities, will resume on Wednesday. 

The University of Tampa will close on Tuesday, Sept. 3. This includes classes, athletic events, and all other activities. All essential campus services, including Dining Services, Campus Safety, Residence Life and Facilities Management, will be maintained. Dining options will be available in the Vaughn Center and Morsani Hall on Tuesday. 

Hillsborough County Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, Sept. 3. 

The Fresh Market at Hyde Park Village will be closed Sunday, September 1.

The Florida Aquarium has canceled its Labor Day Weekend Luau that was scheduled for Sunday, September 1. The aquarium issued refunds to ticket holders that had already purchased tickets. The aquarium plans to be open for its normal business hours of 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

PASCO COUNTY

All Pasco County schools, PLACE childcare programs and Beyond-the-Bell after-school programs will be closed on Tuesday, September 3, due to the possibility of tropical storm-force winds and the potential for opening schools as evacuation shelters. Schools will re-open on Wednesday, Sept. 3.

Pasco-Hernando State College will be closed Sept. 3-4.

Saint Leo University officials have decided to close several locations beginning Sunday, September 1 and they will remain closed through WEDNESDAY, Sept. 4.

PINELLAS COUNTY

Pinellas County government departments will resume regular hours on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The Citizen Information Center (CIC) will remain open to answer residents' calls. As of 2 p.m. Monday, the CIC received more than 1,745 calls. 

The call center will remain open until 8 p.m. Monday and resume operations Tuesday at 8 a.m. Call 727-464-4333.

Pinellas County public schools will be closed Tuesday, Sept. 3 and re-open on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

City of Largo Facility Closures and Service Disruptions:

City of Largo facilities will be closed on Monday, Sep 2 for Labor Day.

City of Largo facilities including City Hall, Recreation facilities and the Largo Public Library will be closed on Tuesday, Sep 3 in anticipation of potential severe weather.

There will be no solid waste, recycling or bulk collection on Monday, September 2 or Tuesday, September 3.

Please move trash and recycling containers inside a garage or secure location. The City of Largo will not be distributing sandbags.

The Largo City Commission meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Sep and 6pm is canceled.

POLK COUNTY

Keiser University Lakeland will be closed on Tuesday, Sept 3 and Wednesday, Sept. 4 due to potential effects from Hurricane Dorian. Students, staff, and faculty should visit www.keiseruniversity.edu or call 1-877-353-4737 for updates.

La Petite Academy on Glendale Street in Lakeland will be closed Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Polk State College and its collegiate high schools will be closed August 31 through Sept. 4. 

Public schools and district offices in Polk County will be closed on Tuesday, Sept. 3, and Wednesday, Sept. 4, in response to Hurricane Dorian.

School is expected to resume as usual on Thursday, Sept. 5. Please note public schools and district offices were already scheduled to be closed on Monday, Sept. 2, in observance of Labor Day.

The decision to close schools and offices was made in collaboration with Polk County Emergency Management personnel. Updates will be posted on the schools website.

The City of Winter Haven is suspending all operations Tuesday Sept. 3 and Wednesday Sept. 4, 2019. The City was already scheduled to observe the Labor Day Holiday on Monday, Sept. 2.

In the event of a shift change in Dorian's path and lessening impact to our City, modifications to the closure will be announced.

Southeastern University will postpone its football game scheduled for September 7th due to the threat of Hurricane Dorian.

The Fire will now host Campbellsville on September 28th at Victory Field at 7 p.m. The game against Virginia University-Lynchburg originally scheduled for the 28th is canceled.

The season will now open on the road on September 14th against Point University in Valley, Ala.
 

MANATEE COUNTY

Manatee and Sarasota Counties WILL be open for classes as regularly scheduled on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Emergency Management Operations de-escalated activity on Saturday, August 31 without opening a shelter in either county.

Students in either county who are kept home tomorrow due to Hurricane Dorian will be able to receive an excused absence.

STATE PARKS

Certain state park campgrounds will close at 1 p.m. Friday and won't reopen till at least Thursday night, the Florida Department of Agriculture has announced. Here are the ones around the Bay area:
