ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Showers and storms moved across the state today and out toward the Gulf of Mexico. That will be the pattern into this weekend.

There will still be a few isolated storms moving west across the region. Otherwise, expect partly cloudy skies with a breeze from the east.

Morning lows will be in the low to mid 70s inland and upper 70s at the coast.

Saturday will start with partly sunny skies. Then scattered storms will move westward across the region in the afternoon to evening.

We’ll have a breeze from the east all weekend, so any storms that form will move west both days. Most of them will be during the afternoon to evening hours, with them dying down at night.

The coverage will be at about 50 percent.

Highs will be in the low 90s Saturday.

Lows will be in the 70s Saturday night.

Sunday will have highs near 90 with again a 50 percent coverage of scattered showers and storms moving westward across the area.

Monday and Tuesday will depend highly on Dorian, but assuming the latest forecast track continues the trend of it staying farther east, then we’ll have less and less impact.

For now, we’ll still assume it will be close enough to at least give us rain.

With that in mind, expect a breezy day Monday with showers and there will be better coverage the farther east you are in Polk County.

Tuesday will be wet if Dorian moves across the eastern half of the state. Although we won’t get the strong winds, we might still get squally rain showers, especially in Polk County.

If Dorian stays offshore, which is now becoming a possibility, then we would likely stay dry.

Stay tuned as the forecast will likely continue to change right up until Dorian approaches the east side of Florida.
