HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is trying to reflect the county's diverse population by diversifying its workforce.

As the sheriff's office looks for new faces to join its team, they hope to gain more women deputies, deputies that know sign language, and more bilingual deputies, especially spanish speaking.

"It's important for us to not only be recruiting but hiring and working with people of all diverse backgrounds because that's who we're dealing with on a day-to-day basis," Deputy Colleen Schiro said.

The sheriff's office isn't just looking for deputies, they also need people on the civilian side as well as the detention center.
