SEBRING, Fla. — A new park is being dedicated Thursday in Sebring to honor the five people killed in a mass shooting a year ago inside a SunTrust Bank branch.

RELATED STORIES:

The dedication ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the site of the former bank branch, located at the intersection of Tubbs Road and US Highway 27. It's open to the public.

Four of the five women killed in the shooting — Ana Pinon-Williams, Debra Cook, Marisol Lopez, and Jessica Montague — were working inside the bank when they were shot. The fifth woman, Cynthia Watson, was a customer.

The park now has concrete brick benches shaped in the form of a pentagon in their honor, and a plaque that reads, "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it."

The SunTrust Foundation, which is now the Truist Foundation, funded the construction of the park.
