PALM HARBOR, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash in Palm Harbor that killed a family of three.

  • Family of 3 killed in Palm Harbor crash
  • Crashed occurred at US 19 & Tampa Rd
  • Two males seen fleeing on foot
  • FHP investigating: 813-558-1800

The crash occurred just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday.  According to the crash report, a 2013 Buick LaCrosse was traveling down US 19 and ran the red light at Tampa Road, hitting a 2010 Nissan Versa. Speed may also be a factor in the crash.

The three people inside the Nissan died at the scene. The victims have been identified as 65-year-old Bruce Johnson, a 49-year-old Lisa Johnson, and an 18-year-old Glenworth Johnson.

Friends and co-workers of the victims, Michael and Christine Williams, said the family went out together each night to deliver newspapers for the Tampa Bay Times.

"They were a good family. They didn't deserve to go that way at all. They're going to be missed," Michael said.

They say the family was just minutes away from arriving for their nightly shift.

"I don't know how they could take off and leave Lisa's family out there. Left her whole family out there. No regard. Just took off," Christine said.

Authorities say two males were seen fleeing the crash on foot.

Anyone with information is asked to contact FHP at 813-558-1800 or Crime Stoppers of Pinellas at 800-873-TIPS.

The crash also shut down all lanes of US 19 nearly all night while authorities investigated.
