ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Skies will be mostly cloudy overnight into early Thursday morning with a mild breeze from the south.  Lows will be in the 60s.

Thursday will be mostly cloudy to partly sunny through the day, with highs in the upper 70s near the coast and mid 80s inland.

Winds will be very gusty, with sustained winds easily in the 20 to 30 mph range and gusty up around 40 mph.  Keep that in mind if you have to drive across area bridges, especially the Skyway Bridge.

A Gale Warning is in effect for gulf waters and tides will run one to three feet above normal due to the strong winds.

There might be an isolated shower or two through the afternoon, but the main event will be the line of storms that moves in during the night.  There will likely be some wind gusts over 50 mph as it passes.

Behind it will be an immediate blast of cooler air. As a result, the morning temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s Friday morning will also be the high temperatures for the day.

Skies will clear, giving way to a nice weekend forecast.
