ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — St. Petersburg commuters may hit extra traffic on a busy roadway Monday.

CSX is repairing a railroad crossing today at 22nd Avenue N. between Interstate 275 and 25th Street, according to Pinellas County Public Works.

However, city officials said CSX did not give any advance notice about the major street closure.

CSX said many residents have complained about the crossing needing repairs, adding the closing and repairs are happening under an emergency basis.

The repair work is expected to keep the roadway closed until Friday afternoon.

St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman was not pleased with what he said was a lack of time from CSX to prep for the closure, taking to twitter on Saturday: "I regret to report that @CSX has given us zero business days to prepare our residents for a major street closure on 22nd Ave N between 275 and 25th St. Work begins Mon AM. Very disappointing and frustrating but I thank all media in advance for spreading the word, helping us out."

Last week, it was drivers in south Tampa that had to deal with closures along CSX routes as repairs were conducted there.
