People who have been pre-screened and have set up an appointment can drive up for a free test between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
County health officials wanted the site opened earlier but had to wait for needed supplies from the state, including gloves, masks and face shields.
Anyone who wants to be tested at this site must be a Hillsborough County resident and have an appointment set up through the county's coronavirus hotline. Call (813) 272-5900 on weekdays between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Call center director Jennifer Hall said "they'll be connected to a specialist who will confirm they're having Covid-19 symptoms which are fever, cough, shortness of breath and if that person is interested in the community drive thru testing they'll be connected to another specialist who will ask additional questions."
Anyone being tested will need to bring a photo ID and a printed copy of their testing confirmation email or a screen shot of the form issued by the county.
County health officials said they expect to do about 200 tests a day. Right now, they have a supply of about 900 testing kits.
They plan to keep the site open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Saturday or until they run out of kits.
