PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida-based restaurant group is giving employees something extra for Easter Sunday, amid the coronavirus pandemic.
- Beachside Hospitality Group furloughed many of its employees
- The group gave employees Easter dinner Sunday
“Today, we are having all of our employees and their families to come by to pick up Easter dinner to celebrate, and thank them for all their time and effort and hard work, to show them how much we appreciate them during this difficult time,” said Greg Powers, CEO of Beachside Hospitality Group.
“They’re awesome people. Thank you, I appreciate it,” said Christian Ramos, a Beachside Hospitality Group restaurant employee.
Beachside Hospitality Group owns restaurants all around the state, including several Crabby's and Crabby Bill's in Clearwater Beach, St. Cloud and Daytona Beach, meaning they have many employees who are currently furloughed.
Even though they say times are tough, they’re doing what they can to show every employee how valued they are.
"Fantastic. It’s truly appreciated, especially being in the restaurant business and bar industry, when there’s nothing that’s open, it’s really heartwarming and appreciated,” said Michael Talarico, a Beachside Hospitality Group employee.
On Sunday’s menu — baked ham, glazed carrots, mashed potatoes, and bread, enough for the whole family.
They say it’s important to keep spirits up, not just on Easter Sunday, but as long as this pandemic continues.
“It’s very important, not only is it Easter but it’s a time when people really are struggling. And it gives all us a sense of purpose to help any way we can, show them that we care and that we love them,” said Powers.
Beachside Hospitality Group has applied for several grants and plans to pay their employees as soon as those grants are approved.
