PASCO COUNTY, Fla. - A Pasco County photographer is looking to help out those in assisted living, putting together more than a hundred goodie bags for them.

What You Need To Know

Putting together those bags is not originally what Courtney Rose had planned for the spring.

"A lot of my weddings have been postponed, canceled, rescheduled," Rose said.

However, a recent conversation with a friend who works at an assisted living facility gave her some inspiration.

"She was telling me how a lot of the residents were lonely. Burnt out from TV. Not being able to socialize with one another. It kept me up thinking about it. Really took a toll on me," Rose said.

Then the idea came to her.

"At four in the morning, Golden Goodie Bags came to my mind," Rose said.

She went to the store and got to work, picking up bags, games, cards and pens.  She put the idea on social media thinking she might get a few donations.

Instead, she's blown away by the support she’s getting.

"My Venmo has not stopped. People are just donating money. Going from $1 from a 3-year old boy, up to $100 from others," Rose said.

In fact, as we were shooting this story, she received a donation from the owners of Templar Contracting.

"We donated money," said Templar co-owner Regan Weiss. "But that’s nothing. This is not about us. This is about Courtney and her bringing people together. That’s what it’s about. The community coming together."

Courtney now has enough supplies for more than 130 bags and counting.

Though she can’t deliver them herself due to current restrictions at assisted living facilities, she knows they’re appreciated.

"This is like Christmas for me to be able to give to them. I’m more excited than I could possibly put into words. Because they don’t know it’s coming," Rose said.

She’s making her first donation of 130 bags on Friday to an assisted living facility in Pasco County.

She hopes to do more. If you’d like to help with Golden Goodie Bags, visit her business page on Facebook.
