TAMPA, Fla. - A University of South Florida police officer has been fired, weeks after it became known that he had alleged social media references to the KKK.
USF police say the officer, Presley Garcia, violted two company policies including conduct unbecoming.
The Twitter bio for Garcia read "KKK member." The name listed on that account as the user's real name is Presley Garcia.
In 2018, USF Police welcomed a new officer with that same name.
Garcia was originally placed on administrative leave.
USF police released a statement at the start of the investigation that said: "The University of South Florida rejects in the strongest possible terms all forms of racism and discrimination. They do not reflect our Principles of Community, which value diversity and inclusion."
Spectrum Bay News 9 reported about Garcia and the USF police investigation last month.
