MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. -- “I think so far this year has been really crazy, but we've gotten through it.”
A Manatee County student is talking all things academic after a few weeks back in her elementary school building.
Meet Kenlee -- currently occupying one corner of her family’s dinner table after a day at school.
Nearly 10, she is jumping into 4th grade homework topics like symmetry with a fresh notebook page and a set colorful pens.
She says she feels safe and attributes it especially to her teacher, Mr. Averso.
There are the physical changes at the school you’d expect—like the socially distanced lunch rooms with clear dividers on the tables.
But it’s the physical distance – not being able to sit near your classmates, much less touch or hug them at recess — that makes Kenlee sad. And she misses them right in front of them.
Still, she is positive in her reasoning. “At least we get to see them and talk to them.”
Kenlee knows people can’t see some of their older family members. And she knows people have died from the virus.
But she knows she is loved and lucky—during Life in the time of Coronavirus.
Over the last few months, Virginia has taken you all over the Tampa Bay area to see how people are dealing with Life in the Time of Coronavirus.
