Police officers are trained to expect the unexpected. A routine day on the beat can quickly turn terrifying.

But, when Tampa officers received a call on Thursday about a baby monkey on the loose, the result was nothing short of adorable.

The monkey was roaming a Seminole Heights neighborhood near the intersection of Nebraska and Hillsborough Avenues.

Officers tailed him – right back to where he came from.

It turns out he’s a man’s exotic pet, and his name is Abu.

He posed for picture with the officers and had a good time playing with their hair before being brought back home.

The officers posted pictures of their encounter on Facebook.
