PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — It’s not just waves and sand that’s been drawing folks to Gulfport Beach Park over the past few weeks.
You can’t miss the two sailboats that washed up during Tropical Storm Eta on November 11.
They’ve been beached in the middle of the park ever since then.
The police department has taped off the boats, but it still hasn’t stopped folks from getting up close and taking pictures.
However, the boats may not be here much longer. There is no definitive day they’ll be gone, but the Gulfport City Manager said they have been able to identify the boat owners.
The city is trying to work with them to get them to remove their vessels.
However, both boats have been marked as unclaimed property.
If nothing is done, the city will be able to step in and remove them with their own contractor.
A meeting with the marina director will take place on Tuesday, where a more definitive answer about the beached boats’ fate hopefully lies.
