TAMPA, Fla. — There are a lot of fans out there who want to be near the action at Raymond James Stadium this weekend.

Residential parking spots are selling out in advance.

With less tailgating spots around Ray Jay this weekend, homeowners in the nearby neighborhoods are cashing in on the opportunity.

Jose Lopez can see the stadium from his front lawn.

He’s one of many homeowners selling parking spots in advance for the big game.

“Everybody’s doing it,” Lopez said.

That’s nothing new.

For years, these residents have sold spots on their property to fans going to Bucs’ games.

This year, with Covid, though?

“We lost a lot of customers,” said homeowner Albert Pacheco. “They weren’t selling that many tickets.”

Pacheco and his neighbor already booked more than a dozen spots for the Super Bowl.

“I’m hoping to make it up this weekend,” he said.

Fans on his block will hear the Miley Cyrus tailgate concert. They can’t see it, but they can see the back of the stage.

And that’s not all.

“We can hear everything that’s going on in the stadium I mean when there’s a touchdown we hear it first before it goes on TV,” Pacheco said.

He normally charges $50 for a tailgate spot. But don’t expect deals like that Sunday.

“The Super Bowl,” Pacheco said. “It’s like… how much money you got?”
