But James’ work does not stop at trees.

A man of deep faith, he now reaches out at any and all in need.

“God has blessed me with the opportunity to be involved with a group,” James said. “I’m just a small fish in a big pond.”

Morris is not only a part of but very involved on the Facebook page: The Hope Shot.

Started by a friend of Morris’, the page is a support group and much more for recovering addicts, and those struggling with addiction.

“It’s a great, great thing,” he said. “They’re on every night, Wednesday night at 8 p.m. and Sunday night at 8 p.m. on Facebook live at “The Hot Shot.” It’s a great resource. We just to help and share a message of hope.”

A married Dad to five, Morris is very active in the community.

Last December, he purchased 20 Christmas trees and donated them to as many families.

Morris said his many years of drug addiction were years of misery. Today, he says it’s all about positivity.

And what about this hero title?

“That’s a big word with a lot of responsibility,” he said. “I’m just grateful that you say that to me because many, many times I would pray to God to just use me as his vessel.”
