Another day, another spike in the number of Hillsborough County students and staff members directly impacted by COVID-19.
The district said Wednesday 10,384 students are either quarantined or isolated, along with 338 staff members.
Isolation refers to individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19, while quarantine refers to those who have had close contact with a positive case.
On Tuesday, the district confirmed that 8,400 students were quarantined or isolated. On Monday, that number was 5,599.
Currently, 214,791 students are enrolled in the district, and 4.8% of them are affected a little more than a week into the school year.
The staff number accounts for 1.4% of all employees, according to the district.
School leaders are holding an emergency meeting now to discuss possible ways to address the issue.
