ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Today’s A+ Teacher is putting his many years of experience to work, all to set the perfect example for students.

Matt Lameyer has taught English at Northside Christian School in St. Petersburg for three decades now. He’s worked hard to push students to go beyond what they think is possible. He even offers a dual-credit course, in collaboration with St. Pete College.

“They start being able to make sense of some of these things that we talk about, as far as, how the language works, and how to make arguments clear and cohesive,” Lameyer said. “And so it’s really rewarding actually.”

Not only that, but he also gets students thinking about their own faith and what they believe in.

“I want them to think about what matters,” Lameyer said. “What’s the important stuff of life? What’s going to happen when they die? Where are they going to go?” 

Lameyer gets to know his students individually, welcoming each one with a special handshake and cultivating a fun atmosphere to make the classroom a more comfortable space to learn in. It’s clearly paying off; his classroom walls are now filled with thank-you notes from his students!
