There was a major development Tuesday in a case involving the teenage son of a Tampa police officer who unintentionally shot his friend to death nearly two years ago.

Bradley Hulett Jr. died in December 2019.

Spectrum Bay News 9 confirmed Tuesday that a manslaughter charge against Christopher Ramsey Bevan can be expunged if he completes an extensive pre-trial intervention program.

The deal was drawn up by the State Attorney's Office and Hulett's parents.

The chief communications officer for State Attorney Andrew Warren also said the charge will be automatically dismissed if Bevan completes the program. He said expunging it takes more steps and is up to a judge.

The arrest for manslaughter will always be on Bevan's record.

The shooting happened when both boys were 15.
