TAMPA, Fla. — Did you know that Toys for Tots, the universally beloved charity that collects and distributes gifts for our nation’s less fortunate children, is overseen by the Marines? The nonprofit was founded in 1947 by Marine reservist Bill Hendricks, and has since made countless kids happy.

On Wednesday, November 10, the Marines’ 246th birthday, the Carrollwood Area Business Association will do both Toys for Tots and the fighting force a solid by combining a celebration with a toy drive.

Glory Days Grill in Carrollwood will host the event, which runs from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30. There will be Marines on hand in full dress blues to honor the occasion and collect toy donations in person, and anyone who brings an unwrapped toy will get a free drink to boot.

There are no tickets to buy or RSVPs to make — just show up, bring a toy and help the Marines celebrate not only their own birthday, but an organization that does a whole lot to put smiles on the faces of children nationwide.

Glory Days Grill is located at 14457 N. Dale Mabry HWY in Tampa.
