TAMPA, Fla. — Fire officials are investigating what sparked a fire Tuesday night at Leto High School.
According to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, the fire started in the school’s art building.
Crews responded to the school just after 7 p.m.
There were no injuries and authorities said the damage wouldn't impact classes on Wednesday.
As crews arrived to the campus, located at 4409 W. Sligh Avenue, they found smoke billowing from the roof of the art building.
Firefighters quickly identified the source of the smoke and extinguished the flames.
Crews worked for hours to break apart areas of the roof that were still smoldering to ensure the fire was completely out.
The arts building sustained fire, smoke, and water damage, but the remainder of the school was not affected by the incident.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but there was planned construction on the roof where the fire originated.
