PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — Ten-year-old Max Salebra takes competition and obstacle course training to the next level — American Ninja Warrior Junior.

While Salebra has already earned the title of title of junior national champion, he said he’s just getting started.
Salebra trains in Pinellas Park at Jungle Gym — and whether he’s running up walls or swinging through the air, he makes being a ninja look easy.
His passion for American Ninja Warrior started after running through a course at his friends’ house.
“My friends, Henry and Holden, they had a ninja course in their backyard and I went over to their house one day, and I did it and then I found this gym,” Salebra said.
Now Salebra trains with his coach, Caleb Bergstrom, several times a week. The obstacles are both mentally and physically challenging.
“One thing that makes Max unique is he will work hard, no matter how he feels, even if he is not feeling the best that day, or if he’s feeling really good that day, he’s going to work hard every day and push for his goals no matter what,” Bergstrom said.
“You’ve gotta believe, and you’ve gotta train hard and if you’re not feeling like you’re ready to do something, you’ve just gotta push through the pain, believe in yourself, and you can do it,” Salebra expressed.
Salebra won $15,000 in the American Ninja Warrior Junior competition and donated the money to Ronald McDonald House. He said he plans on continuing his training and hopes to compete as an adult, too.
