JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Tucked away on acres of old Florida ranch land in Jacksonville is a family-owned farm passed down through five different generations. In this week's Florida on a Tankful, Spectrum News heads to Diamond D Ranch to explore their rich culture and history.

What You Need To Know

In the stables of Diamond D Ranch, the prep and care of their horses is one of the things they pride themselves on. Especially fifth generation barn assistant manager Jewel'Lynn Taylor, who essentially grew up in these stables.

“I started riding when I was really young. I'd say probably six or seven.”

Jewel'Lynn received her very first horse for Christmas when she was just a young girl. The horse was passed down to her from her Aunt K'Leigh. Now she's been riding for years and making her own mark at the ranch, spending upwards of 40-to-60 hours a week here. At this stage of her life, she's making plans to turn this job here into a career.

“It's very special. I hold this place very close to my heart the more I think about what I want to do with my profession. It makes it even harder to pick because I never want to part ways with the ranch. Just to be able to say my family has done this since the 1950s is so amazing.”

The ranch itself sits on more than 160 acres that are still in full use today, but over the years they've expanded, offering the farm and ranch experience to guests.

Their horse back riding tours that Jewel'Lynn helps guide on occasion give you a true look at the life of a rancher and just how they run and operate Diamond D Ranch.

Diamond D Ranch is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. They also host several festivals and events through out the year. For more information on the ranch just head to their website.
