"A young man saw his life end unexpectedly,” said Sheriff Rick Staly during a press conference Thursday afternoon.
Investigators spent 20 days searching for clues involving the teenager's death.
During the press conference, Staly announced that a 15-year-old had been arrested for manslaughter with a firearm.
"It happened by the hands of a gunman even younger than (the victim)," Staly said.
He said the juvenile fled to southwest Georgia before turning himself in to authorities on Wednesday.
The suspect is currently in a youth detention center in Georgia.
He’s expected to be brought back to Flagler County by early next week and could face up to 30 years in prison if his charges are upgraded to a first-degree felony.
“He was trying to be a macho man with a gun,” Staly said of the alleged shooter. “So parents I ask you to teach your kids that it takes a bigger man to walk away from a dispute than it does to be a punk with a gun."
The State Attorney's Office will decide whether the suspect will be charged as an adult.
