A candlelit vigil was held Tuesday night for Siddharth Suhkdeo. The 17-year-old student was killed in a crash over the weekend in New Smyrna Beach.

Suhkdeo is remembered as a talented musician and loving band member at New Smyrna Beach High School. Organizers say they planned two events to honor his life and support his family this week. The first will take place this evening at Halifax Hospital.The next one will be held at the Brannon Center on Thursday. Both will begin at 8 pm.

“Our entire music school sends their condolences to all of his family,” wrote Richard Cuchetti in a Facebook post about his student and mentee at the Cunchetti School of Music.

Authorities arrested 32-year-old Michael Miles for driving under the influence and causing death and serious injury, according to the New Smyrna Beach Police Department.

The State Attorney for Florida's 7th Circuit announced on Tuesday evening that it has filed a motion to revoke the Miles' bond. Miles' pretrial detention hearing is set for Wednesday at 11:00a.m.

 

NSBHS Principal Tim Merrick sent a message out to parents and students announcing counseling sessions will be available throughout the week for anyone who may need it.

Sukhdeo was a four-time winner at the All-State Music Conference held annually in Tampa and played the trumpet and violin.
