BRANDON, Fla. — Investigators have made an arrest in the Westfield Brandon Mall shooting that happened Friday afternoon.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested 19-year-old Quran Deandre Johnson on Saturday. Deputies say he was caught driving a stolen vehicle.

Deputies believe Johnson got into a fight on Friday with another person at the mall, and then shot that man in the parking lot outside the food court. The mall was placed on lockdown for a brief time as a result.

Johnson is facing a number of charges including attempted second degree murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and simple battery.

On Friday, a number of social media posts surfaced claiming there was a shooter at the mall, located at 459 Brandon Town Center Drive.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office responded where they learned that two men were arguing near the Club Vape kiosk, according to officials.

The two men continued the argument outside the mall where one of the men shot the other, deputies said.

Officials says the man who was shot was taken to Tampa General Hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. The shooter fled.

The mall was placed on a lockdown after the shooting, and was lifted after a brief time, according to officials.

Deputies say both men knew each other, and there is no threat to the public.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says this is the second shooting at Westfield Brandon Mall in the past three weeks, and the third shooting there since January.
