HONOLULU — Journey will perform on Oct. 5 at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu. 

Tickets for the concert will go on sale on Aug. 27 at 10 a.m. for Hawaii residents and can be purchased through Ticketmaster or in-person at the venue box office, according to a press release. Residents will be verified by having Hawaii zip codes for their credit cards’ billing address and will be able to purchase up to eight tickets. The tickets will then be sold to anyone starting Sept. 3. The price for tickets is $55 plus service fees and general excise tax. 

The concert promoter Rick Bartalini will donate $1 for every ticket purchased to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre, a cancer hospital in Australia that treats cancer, conducts research and performs clinical trials.  

Journey first performed in Honolulu in the 1970s at the Diamond Head Crater Festival, and since then has come to play in the island state many times. Their last Honolulu performance was at the Blaisdell in 2017. 

The band is currently promoting its 15th album, “Freedom,” which was written during the pandemic. The band will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2023. 

Neal Schon, who co-founded Journey, is the only constant member playing with the band. The current lead vocalist is Arnel Pineda, who was born in the Philippines and discovered by Schon in 2007 via YouTube. Jonathan Cain has been the keyboardist and rhythm guitarist since 1980, and Schon called him out in 2017 for a visit with former President Donald Trump. Drummer Deen Castronovo performed with the band from 1998 to 2015, when he was kicked out following an arrest for domestic violence, but rejoined the band last year. The remaining lineup includes keyboardist Jason Derlatka, who has been performing with the band since 2019, and bassist Todd Jensen, who joined Journey this year.
