Manager Jacob Mercado feels it’s the perfect spot.

“Downtown Tampa is the heart of Tampa,” Mercado said. “There’s always something going. There’s always some event. There’s always people. Always good vibes.”

The golf carts are street legal and include turn signals and seat belts. They can be driven on downtown roads with a speed limit of 35 miles per hour or lower.

Mercado says transportation advocates have been in support if it helps keep cars off the road, like bikes or scooters do.

“Driving golf carts is going to be a lot more viewed more normally than it was before,” Mercado said. “I feel if you’re giving it a shot, you’ll understand exactly what I’m talking about.”

The golf carts can be rented by the hour or for the day.

Channelside Golf Carts is located on 12th Street by the Florida Aquarium.
