TAMPA. Fla. — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have parted ways with offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich.
Leftwich and four other offensive assistants were fired Thursday morning.
Two defensive assistant coaches also were fired as the team revamps its coaching staff.
Leftwich, 43, joined the Bucs as part of former coach Bruce Arians' staff in 2019.
Tampa Bay ranked last in the NFL in rushing yards and rushing attempts, with a sharp offensive decline this season, going from 61 touchdowns in 2021 to only 31 in 2022.
The team finished the regular season 8-9, yet still won the NFC South crown and hosted a playoff game.
Tampa Bay exited the playoffs Monday night in a lackluster 31-14 loss to Dallas.
Also leaving the staff are Specialists Coach Chris Boniol, Wide Receivers Coach Kevin Garver, Offensive Quality Control Coach Jeff Kastl, Assistant Defensive Line Coach Lori Locust and Running Backs Coach Todd McNair.
Quarterbacks Coach Clyde Christensen, Senior Offensive Assistant Rick Christophel and Outside Linebackers Coach Bob Sanders have decided to retire.
