PARRISH, Fla. — The Manatee County Sheriff's Office completed a search of Parrish Community High School after an anonymous bomb threat was made on the FortifyFL app Tuesday morning, officials said.
The sheriff's office confirmed that the campus was safe and the school followed the normal dismissal procedures, including regular bus routes.
This is the fourth incident the school has been faced with since the start of February.
An e-mail was sent out to parents notifying them of the incident. Officials advised them not to come to the school campus while law enforcement was conducting their search.
Immediately after the investigation, school officials began an organized process of releasing students who had parental permission to go home early.
Manatee County Sheriff Rick Wells, as well as school officials, said that anyone involved in making threats against schools will be subject to serious criminal and school district consequences.
“When we find those responsible, we are going to put them in jail. They are going to be charged with a felony and that felony is going to stay with them for the rest of their life. I am asking that anyone that has any information about these threats, please contact the Sheriff’s Office, the School Board, or Crime Stoppers, but we need to put an end to this today,” Sheriff Wells said.
Crime Stoppers of Manatee County. is offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest related to these threats. To remain anonymous and be eligible for this reward, contact Crime Stoppers at (866) 634-TIPS or submit a tip on their website.
