BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis said detectives continue to investigate the fatal shooting of a teenager last week.

During a news conference Tuesday, Nienhuis said investigators have conducted more than 75 interviews to determine the events of Feb. 7, when 17-year-old Isabella Angelina Scavelli was shot while at a gathering near Hazel Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Still, the sheriff added that details in the case remain limited.

Nienhuis did say Scavelli was not engaged in a high-risk lifestyle and that he wants rumors being spread around about the case stopped.

Scavelli, a junior, was part of the school tennis team and involved in student government, Hernando School District officials said in a release. She was described by her teachers as an energetic, kind and a joyful student.
