POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A Polk County deputy was arrested after being accused of driving under the influence early Saturday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.
James Peach, 29, was driving his truck on Highway 60 in Bartow when he lost control and crashed into a tree, authorities said.
Police responded to the scene just after 3 a.m.
Peach was arrested for suspicion of DUI, authorities said.
The sheriff’s office says Peach was hired in 2019 and became a deputy last September.
He resigned during the booking process at jail, officials said.
No one else was involved in the crash.
