TAMPA, Fla. — All Selmon Extension lanes have reopened Thursday afternoon after being closed for several hours due to a fatal crash, Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority officials said.

One person died after a vehicle went off the Selmon Expressway ramp near Gandy Boulevard Thursday morning.

Tampa Police and the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the Lighthouse Apartments near South Dale Mabry Highway and Gandy Boulevard just after 10 a.m.

Authorities said a car crashed through the guardrail along the eastbound Gandy Boulevard exit of the Selmon Expressway and came to rest in the parking lot of the Lighthouse Apartments.

The sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.
