ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — UPDATE: The Pinellas Medical Examiner confirmed that the cause of death of two-year-old Taylen Mosley was drowning, officials with the St. Petersburg Police Department said Monday.
PREVIOUS STORY: Sometime after a birthday party for him on March 29, Thomas Mosley stabbed Pashun Jeffery, the mother of his 2-year-old son Taylen, more than 100 times.
According to arrest reports, Jeffery threw Mosley a 21st birthday party at her apartment.
The guests left around 5:15 p.m., and police said that was the last time anyone saw Jeffery or Taylen alive.

Investigators say Mosley killed Jeffery that evening, stabbing her to death. She was 20 years old.
The arrest report says when Mosley left the scene Wednesday evening, he took Taylen with him and went to Lake Maggiore before going to his mom’s house with cuts on his arms and hands.
After that, he went to St. Anthony’s Hospital.

A massive search for Taylen started on Thursday when relatives couldn’t reach Jeffery and a check of her apartment found “a very violent crime scene.”
On Friday, officers found the toddler’s body in the mouth of an alligator at the lake.
Mosley is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
He had his first court appearance over the weekend. He’s being held without bond.
Family members who initially created a GoFundMe page to raise funds a search effort for Taylen will now use proceeds for funeral expenses.
