ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The St. Petersburg woman who police said was killed at the hands of her own sister earlier this month is being laid to rest Saturday.

What You Need To Know

The obituary for Sherry Lynn Howard is covered in photos of her and her younger sister, Charee.

Everyone who knew the sisters said the tribute sums Sherry’s life and her greatest love, her sister.

“Sherry was a loving woman. She will always be known for her infectious personality, her smile, her exuberant personality,” family friend Javontae Wright said.

Wright will preside over her funeral Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bethel Community Baptist Church located at 2901 54th Avenue South in St. Pete. The funeral is open to the public.

“The service is going to be a short, sweet, dignified classy service as Sherry would have it,” Wright said.

It’s a funeral service that took a lot for Sherry’s family to pull together because they said her finances, life insurance policy and even the home she lived in were all tied directly to her sister Charee. Since Charee is her beneficiary and the suspect in her murder, their family said they couldn’t access any death benefits for her funeral.

“When you have this kind of situation it’s very hard. It’s really muddy waters where you can’t have one sign or one cash in a policy or to make good on the policy because of this situation,” Wright said.

Their family started fundraising efforts to try and help with funeral services and the path forward.

“Right now the family is just trying to cross this bridge to get through this tragic loss, this sudden death and then go to the issue of dealing with what they’re gonna do as far as handling the legal situation with Charee,” Wright said. “The family still loves her.”

Charee is a 39-year-old medical doctor and her family says she suffers from a mental illness. She allegedly called police on April 11 to report she murdered her sister. Their family said they never saw this coming.

“If you know them, you know them. Where you seen one, you seen the other. Sherry loved her sister,” Wright said. “She always supported her sister and the same thing for Charee that was the kind of relationship they had. That’s how their mother raised them but unfortunately evil crept in.”

The sisters didn't have any children. They both lived in the home their mother left to them and now all of what is left behind has to be figured out. This as Charee remains behind bars and Sherry is laid to rest in a celebration of love.
