The man who allegedly pulled the trigger, 38-year-old Al Stenson, was shot and killed by police during a standoff in Sanford on Wednesday afternoon.
There was a lot of emotion at the vigil as loved ones gathered at the Sunrise Park Apartments in memory of four lives lost too soon.
A number of mourners cried as they left flowers and balloons at the door of the apartment where a 40-year-old woman and her children, ages 21, 17 and 11, were found fatally shot on Tuesday.
One speaker addressed the crowd in Spanish and a second translated to English. The speaker urged those gathered to pray for the family in this difficult time.
Those gathered declined to speak to the media, but Lake Wales Police Chief Chris Velasquez previously talked about the devastating nature of this case.
“Our hearts are broken to see four deceased individuals for absolutely no reason,” Velasquez said. “We don’t have a motive at this time. We don’t have any other information that we can provide. To give us any direction on why this happened.”
