TAMPA, Fla. — The 58th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards takes place on May 11 and a local event has been nominated for an award.
The Florida Strawberry Festival was selected as one of five nominees in the "Fair or Rodeo of the Year" category.
The event is a staple in Tampa Bay and as the festival's president explains, it was a sweet surprise.
"We didn't know it was coming so it made it even more exciting," said Kyle Robinson, president of the Strawberry Festival. "We've enjoyed that good relationship and reputation throughout the country of being a place where not only people want to come see a show, but the entertainers want to come play a show."
Although the ACM Award show airs Thursday night at 8 p.m., the winner of this particular award won't be announced until August.
Until then, the anticipation builds for everyone involved with the event.
