ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) will be fare-free for all bus routes on Friday in celebration of World Car Free Day, officials announced.

“One of the easiest ways we can reduce our carbon footprint is by taking public transportation,” said Brad Miller, Chief Executive Officer of PSTA. “PSTA is committed to becoming more environmentally friendly and you can too by hopping on a bus and let us take you to your destination.” 

According to PSTA, the typical passenger vehicle emits 4.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide each year and all while each of PSTA’s electric buses reduce 135 tons of carbon emissions from the air per year.
