ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A St. Petersburg police officer is turning up the heat, but it’s not on the streets. It’s for his brand-new cookie business.
Keith Dunigan said he baked cookies for years for friends and co-workers as a hobby.
The cookies were so popular and tasty, his friends urged him to turn it into a business.
So now, this weightlifting cop who is used to working with SWAT, is now working with sweets for his new cookie business called, "Cop a Cookie."
“I’ll just put the cookies on the table and people start eating them and they’ll be like, 'Who made these?' And I’ll be like, 'I made them.' And they’ll be like, 'What?' And I’m like, 'No seriously, I made them.' There’s people to this day that have eaten my cookies and don’t believe I made them,” Dunigan said.
Armed with all the ingredients to make the perfect cookie, he’s hoping to inspire people to step out and pursue their passion and flex their entrepreneurial skills.
“I would say if you want to do something like this, if you want to start any other small business, why not?” he said. “It’s just like anything elsewhere. If you really want to do it, you’re going to make the sacrifices and really hone in on your skills to be a part of something like that.”
Dunigan said since he launched his business a few months ago, the orders haven’t stopped coming in. The cookies are available for purchase through @Cop_A_Cookie on Instagram.
