Johnson-Davis, 36, died after being taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital by Palmetto police after being shot multiple times with a Taser.

Officials have said that Johnson-Davis ran onto a police officer’s cruiser after they arrived to calls of him acting aggressively to staff at a convenience store.

Police said he continued aggressive behavior, forcing officers to shoot him with a Taser. They added he was on drugs and suffered a medical emergency that required his hospitalization.

He died a day later.

Some members of the community and family said, despite the findings, the actions of police were the cause of death.

They are calling on the Department of Justice to launch an investigation.
