ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Former Republican Party of Florida Chairman Christian Ziegler won’t face charges after a video voyeurism accusation, the State Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.

Last year, a woman alleged that she was sexually abused by Ziegler, but police found no evidence of rape.

Investigators said video of the alleged encounter showed it was likely consensual.

Sarasota Police didn’t charge Ziegler with rape, but did suggest a charge of video voyeurism.

In Wednesday’s ruling, the State Attorney’s Office pointed to inconsistencies with the alleged victim’s story.

She also said she could not remember if she consented to the video.

Investigators said they couldn’t prove beyond a reasonable doubt the video was filmed without her approval.

Ziegler denied any wrongdoing.
