ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Police said an 11-year-old boy was shot and killed by his 14-year-old brother in what authorities said was an accident.

The boy was identified as Amir Williams.
WATCH ABOVE: Police update the case during a Friday afternoon news conference.
Police said Amir was home with his 14-year-old brother and 13-year-old sister as it was not a school day.
In a news release, police said, "The 14-year-old brother admitted he was playing with the gun and accidentally shot his 11-year-old brother."
Assistant Police Chief Mike Kovacsev said the boy told police he found the gun in an ally not far from the home and that his parents didn't know the weapon was inside the house.
The gun was reported stolen on April 24th in St. Petersburg. Detectives are still trying to determine how the 14-year-old had possession of it.
"This lady, she had two sons and a daughter," relative Darryl Walls said of the mother. "One of her sons is dead, and the other one, I don't know what kind of charges are going to be brought up with him having a gun or whatever. I just pray that it don't be too bad on that, and we just hope that everything's going to work itself out. But we can't bring back that life."
Family members said Amir was playful and loved being part of a local football team.
The incident is still under investigation. No charges have been filed.
