It happened shortly before 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of N. Dale Mabry Highway and W South Avenue and involved two vehicles.

According to a news release from the Tampa Police Department, officers found two victims in a 2015 Nissan Versa. They included the passenger, a white female in her early 60s, and the driver, a white male in his early to mid-70s. Both were taken to a hospital, where the woman died. The man was still being treated for his injuries.

Police said 22-year-old Andy Moya Robainia was driving a 2011 BMW at a high rate of speed and that, "according to witnesses appeared to be racing." Robainia's vehicle hit the Nissan Versa, police said.

Robainia was not injured. Police are looking for anyone who may have been engaged with him in racing.

Robaina was charged with one felony count of vehicular homicide and one misdemeanor count of unlawful racing on a highway.

Dale Mabry Highway lanes were closed for hours during the investigation but had reopened by Monday evening.
