Right now, principals can set their own rules on a school-by-school basis.
The new policy would be district wide: phones would still be allowed in schools but their use in classrooms would be limited.
The new rules include exceptions for students with medical conditions and allow for phones as part of lesson plans.
The meeting starts at 4 p.m.
If approved, the policy will take effect at the start of the school year on August 12.
