TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Rays made a series of trades Sunday, continuing their trend of restructuring and acquiring several prospects.

The team announced Sunday infielder and 2024 All-Star Isaac Paredes is heading to the Chicago Cubs for Christopher Morel and two prospects.

Morel is currently slashing .199 and led the Cubs in home runs (18) and runs batted in (51).

The prospects included in the deal are Cubs No. 29 prospect RHP Hunter Bigge and RHP Ty Johnson.

Earlier Sunday, the team also announced right-handed pitcher Jason Adam was traded to the San Diego Padres.

In exchange, right-handed pitcher Dylan Lesko, catcher J.D. Gonzalez, and outfielder Homer Bush Jr. will be joining Tampa Bay's roster.

The moves come just days after the Rays sent starting pitcher Zach Eflin to the Baltimore Orioles for prospects and traded outfielder Randy Arozarena to the Seattle Mariners.

The Rays thanked Adam for his contributions to the team in a social media post on X.
