TAMPA — A 15-year-old male was arrested Thursday after the Tampa Police Department said he was found with two loaded guns on the grounds of Blake High School.

According to a news release, the guns were found during a search of students who were caught vaping in a school restroom.

The teen was charged with two counts of possession of a weapon on school grounds and was taken to a Juvenile Assessment Center.

"The discovery of loaded firearms in the possession of a teen on a school campus is deeply troubling and alarming," said Chief Lee Bercaw. "While we are thankful that no one was injured, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the critical importance of gun safety and that we must all continue working together to prevent such occurrences."

Detectives are working to determine how the teen obtained the guns.

The school is located at 1701 N. Boulevard.
