INVERNESS, Fla. — The Inverness City Council on Tuesday approved an ordinance that brings changes to the city’s current alcohol ordinance.

The current ordinance limits selling and consuming alcohol at outdoor events to just beer and wine. It has been that way since 2022.

But some business owners had pushed for liquor to be allowed as well, saying it’s a way to bring in more money.

The city manager of Inverness disagreed, saying the city has not seen any negative impacts from the current ordinance.

There was a public forum before the vote.
