TAMPA, Fla. — Workers are getting La Quinta Inn near the University of South Florida hurricane ready. The hotel is not in an evacuation zone, and they are booked.

What You Need To Know

"By Saturday, we were sold out," said General Manager Justin Craven.

Still, he said the calls keep coming, as many are still looking for a place to ride out the storm.

"Oh, it breaks my heart," said James Sherman, who works the front desk.

Even with the huge demand, Craven said he wanted to make sure there was space for all of his employees.

"When we first found out about the storm coming and it was in our area, we set a block of rooms and offered them to stay here first," he said.

Sherman said he appreciates the gesture. He normally takes off Wednesdays, but he volunteered to work the night of the storm.

"If I was fleeing the storm, the one thing I would want is help, so I feel like that's what I should do is help," he said.

And after helping, Sherman will be able to go up to his room and rest.

Craven said he doesn't know the living situations of his employees, but he said he doesn't need to know.

"At the end of the day, I just want to take care of the team," he said.
