HERNANDO BEACH, Fla. — Hernando County is making it a little easier for residents in the Hernando Beach area to get around as the area recovers from hurricanes Helene and Milton.


What You Need To Know

  • Free emergency transportation is being provided for Hernando Beach residents after Hurricane Milton

  • A TheBus shuttle drives up and down Shoal Line Boulevard, transporting residents to the Walmart on US-19 as well as comfort stations

  • The emergency route run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting at the Walmart off of US-19 at the top of every hour

The county's public transportation service, TheBus, has set up a free emergency shuttle that is helping residents get to comfort stations set up by the county.

Those comfort stations are portable restrooms and showers, set-up at Linda Pederson Park and in Aripeka.

The shuttle is free to residents and travels up and down Shoal Line Boulevard.

“Letting the folks of Hernando Beach know and the county know that we do have a service out here and we’re trying to help them out and get them back to their normal lives as quickly as we can get them out there,” said Darlene Lollie, transit administrator for Hernando County.

The route runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day, starting at the Walmart off of US-19 at the top of every hour.
